The Banned Knowledge Barrio is a virtual neighborhood filled with FREE resources about much needed & much censored information!

We’ve got:

  • Resource Collections AKA “Casitas”

  • Webinars

  • Zines

… more coming in the future!

Casitas

“Casita” means little house in Spanish.

  • Our casitas house resources that center excluded and oppressed voices and help inform learners about important topics. Casitas are created and organized by volunteers, many of whom are educators.

  • If you would like to help us build the barrio, please fill out the volunteer form here.

What’s a barrio?

Barrio means neighborhood in Spanish. To us Chicanos, a barrio is a community that persists despite colonization and white supremacy. In our barrios, the people take care of each other because we know the system won’t.

I use the term barrio here as a way to pay homage to my ancestors, signal our resistance, and honor the kids who inspire all the work we do at ESTE. I hope the information here inspired more folks to take up the call. Love, Lucia

Volunteers Needed

Hi peeps! We are looking for educators of all kinds to share their time, passion, & expertise to help us create free learning resources and come up with creative ways to get “banned knowledge” out there for all of us.

Current Needs:

  • We need help creating resource collections like the ones we made for Palestine and Black History. We call them “casitas.”
